Getting Started

What do I get with a Swishmail email hosting plan?

Every plan includes email at your own domain, a web mail console, anti-virus scanning, configurable spam protection with whitelist/blacklist controls, shared web-based address books and calendars, and access to our support team. Plans differ by number of mailboxes, disk space, and monthly data transfer.

How long does it take to set up my email?

Most accounts are live the same business day. Once you sign up we provision your domain, create your mailboxes, and send you step-by-step setup instructions. If you are moving from another provider, see our migration guide - we handle the move for you.

Can I use my own domain name?

Yes - email @yourdomain is standard on every plan. If you do not have a domain yet, we can register one for you for $22.00 a year and handle the DNS setup.

Do I need to buy web hosting too?

No. Email hosting stands on its own, and every plan includes a one-page business card site. If you need a full website, our web development and design teams can build one.

Email Clients & Access

Which email programs can I use?

Any standard client: Thunderbird, Outlook, Apple Mail, and the mail apps on iPhone and Android all work over IMAP or POP with SSL/TLS. You can also read your mail from any browser through our secure web mail interface.

Can I access my email from multiple devices?

Yes. IMAP keeps your mail synchronized across all your devices - read, reply, and file messages on your phone, laptop, and web mail and everything stays in sync.

Is there a webmail interface?

Yes - a secure web mail console with support for 44 languages, spell check, calendars, memos, and tasks. It works from any modern browser with nothing to install.

Spam Protection & Security

How does Swishmail handle spam?

Every account includes configurable spam filtering with personal whitelist and blacklist controls, and you can enable or disable protection per email account from your control panel. A premium spam firewall is available as an add-on for businesses that want an extra layer.

Is my email scanned for viruses?

Yes - all inbound and outbound mail passes through anti-virus scanning automatically, on every plan.

Is my connection to the mail server encrypted?

Yes. IMAP, POP, SMTP, and web mail are all available over SSL/TLS, so your messages and credentials are encrypted in transit.

Do you offer email archiving?

Yes - email archiving is available as an add-on. Archiving keeps a tamper-proof copy of your mail for compliance, liability protection, and disaster recovery.

Billing & Plans

How much does email hosting cost?

Plans start at $8.10 per month for 5 mailboxes, with tiers up to 1,000 mailboxes. There is a $10 one-time setup fee, and prepay discounts run from 5% (3 months) to 15% (36 months). See the pricing page for the full breakdown.

Can I upgrade my plan later?

Yes - you can upgrade to a higher plan at any time as your team grows. Extra mailboxes can also be added individually for $1.99 each per month.

Can I add more storage or data transfer?

Yes, both disk space and monthly data transfer can be increased during sign up or later as add-ons.

Support

What kind of support does Swishmail offer?

Real people, not ticket bots. Phone support is available 10am-6pm EST Monday through Friday, and email support around the clock. Many of our clients have been with us for over 15 years - largely because of how we handle support.

Will you help me migrate from my current provider?
